| Killed in a Week. Well, they’re certainly a band that waste no time in telling you exactly what they’re about. The first ten seconds of the aptly named 'Don’t Forget' immediately give you a scope of the sheer strength and raw of edge their sound possesses. It’s more than enough to separate them from the endless masses of mediocre metalcore bands – these guys mean business! The clean vocals cut nicely over their pounding riffs, even if they appear a little shaky at times. The impressive growl sorts this problem in the track and it’s no doubt something that can only improve over time. ‘What I Wanted’ starts on a different note, more speedy and intricate. The clean vocals, here, sound flawless, the harmonies giving this track a great depth. The track progresses into something more progressive sounding, the pounding riff different to the metalcore sound of their first track. A well balanced and tidy track, it helps to really demonstrate the immense potential and talent this band has in its song-writing and performance. But perhaps most impressive of all is the immense opener to their final track, ‘The Flame’. Utterly intense, this powerful track delivers a pure metal high from the start to the finish. Whether it’s the intense screams of Lee Urquhart or the blasting guitars of Marshall Gregory and Will Gatenby, there is little to fault! More reminiscent of a slightly heavier Killswitch Engage, this track really sums the band up – genuine, heavy, riff-packed metalcore, combining all of the elements with that extra ounce of effort and energy to set them from the packs. With little to fault, this band appears to be one to really look out for if you like your metal fast and heavy, with a clean melodic vocal driven chorus to liven it all up. Keep your eyes peeled folks! They may just be the next big stars of metalcore – the real stars it needs to bring itself back into the music scene as a genre to listen to! 7/10 ____________________________________________________________ I hope that's alright Well, this'll be my last post until Monday - I'm going on Holiday and I won't have internet access See you all on Monday then! | |
